James Davies has been President of Davie Shipbuilding since 2012 and CEO since 2019. He was CFO between 2012 and 2018. He is also the co-founder of transatlantic marine industrial group, Inocea, comprising Davie, Helsinki Shipyard and Federal Fleet Services. James has directly overseen the transformation and growth of the Group based on a strategy co-created 15 years ago with Inocea co-founder, Alex Vicefield. Highlights include Davie joining Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy and leading the team that acquired Finland’s Helsinki Shipyard, which created the world leader in Arctic shipbuilding. Prior to Davie, he was CEO of a maritime-focused investment advisory in London, having also served as Finance Director for private investors with significant maritime holdings. Among many other aspects of the shipbuilding value chain, James has expertise in alternative energy solutions and in particular financing – from construction to post-delivery. James is a qualified accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.
